The reason he changed his stage name from Rap Monster to RM, is because "a name that better fits the music he aims for and shows an even wider  spectrum."  

Namjoon used to upload his own work on hip-hop community websites like HIPHOPPLAYA by the nickname "Runch Randa". He later changed his name from Runch Randa to Rap Monster, and then ultimately to RM.

2. Early in the career

When he was 11 he got interested in hip-hop after hearing songs he feel comfortable with hip-hop music. His first American rapper was Eminem introduced by his school teachers.

On June 13 2013 Namjoon made his debut with BTS and has produced and written lyrics for a variety of tracks on all of BTS albums. 

On August 29, 2013, Namjoon performed the intro track to BTS's first extended play rula tool which was released as a trailer ahead of the eps September 11th release and marked his first solo released collectively as BTS.
